* CAN I LISTEN TO SECULAR MUSIC *

This author is awesome ..
Finally someone to speak about a most wanted sticky, hush-hush topic such as "Can a "Christian" listen to Secular music?"
We hear and listen to all types of music throughout our travels such as at our work place to help us meditate and relax. At our dentist offices, supermarkets, shopping malls, cookouts, wedding receptions, intimate moments, while driving or washing our automobiles ect. He explains the therapeutic value of music during a stressful/non stressful day, even its effects in reviving commatose induced patients just by triggering music through its sound capabilities.
Lamar Boschman simplifies, articulates, and differentiates it's orgin, background, and history, as well as helping it's readers to recognizing and understand what kind of subliminal messages "MAY" be inside it's lyrics whether instrumental music, classical music, Jazz, R&B, Rock, Rap, Turkish, Russian, Swahili, Jingle Bells or a Michael Jackson tune.
(1.) Is it vulgar, cussing.
(2.) Is it sexual, adulteress, homophobic, pervertic or pornatous?
(3.) Does it promote violence, killing, or Anarchy?
(4.) Is it Antichrist.
He explains one could look back at a pleasant moment in life, such as a love one, while lowering they're heart rates, as well as our blood pressure... He cautions us to be careful not to look to far back that we could jeopardize falling back into our old lustful temptations if we aren't CAREFUL ...

The Rebirth of Music by LaMar Boschman is an excellent book for anyone who is in ministry or planning on going into ministry. I have enjoyed reading it. I used some of the information to do a Music Workshop.

The importance of Excellence in Ministry is a great point that the book brings out. Why? I am so glad you asked. Music plays an important role in the church service. Music is an integral part of each service, divinely appointed by God as a ministry. Music can reach the unsaved without a word being preached. Anointed music has the power to heal in so many ways.

This book also gives a list of 839 reference scriptures about music in the Bible.
I would recommend this book to anyone in Ministry, and not just the Music Ministry.

About the Author

Jonathan Scourfield is a former teacher and probation officer, now senior lecturer in Cardiff School of Social Sciences. Most of his research has focused on gender and aspects of childhood and child welfare. He is joint editor of Contemporary Wales.

Bella Dicks is a senior lecturer in Cardiff School of Social Sciences, with research interests in cultural sociology, and a particular focus on placed identities; culture-led regeneration and heritage; and qualitative digital methodology.

Mark Drakeford is a professor of Social Policy and Applied Social Studies at Cardiff University, and Cabinet health and social policy adviser to the Welsh Assembly Government.

Andrew Davies is currently a senior consultant with Wavehill Consulting, having previously worked as a research fellow for the University of Wales in both Cardiff and Aberystwyth. He has written a doctorate on representations of Wales in literature of the romantic period.

I was pleasantly surprised and feel that this book is a great addition to players who wish to improve their game

I was a bit skeptical of this book at first as I didn't think it would have anything new to offer that isn't already in other books, and being a compilation of several authors I thought the book would not have a consistent level of quality. I was pleasantly surprised and feel that this book is a great addition to players who wish to improve their game.

My favorite chapter so far is the one by Alex Fitzgerald on hand ranges. It starts with one of the best explanations of the ICM model and why you should care about it in tournaments. Then Alex goes on to explain how to do the maths to determine if a particular bet is profitable given the situation and player range for the particular hand. I'll be reading this chapter several times / and follow the practice exercises he suggests with getting used to popular software packages like flopzilla. If you read only this chapter and applied its lessons you will become a better player guaranteed.

The chapter with Phil and Liv is interesting in that it shows how two different styles (old school feel / experience vs. new school math / range analysis) can both be successful.

The chapter by Evan Jarvis is a good summary of some of his lessons and ideas from his youtube videos and website. Nice concise chapter.

My least favorite chapter is the one by Chris Moneymaker. The chapter didn't seem to add anything new in terms of ideas or technique that any player with more than a year's experience at tournaments doesn't already know.

All in all a very good book with material that captures some of the latest poker experts ideas into one convenient place.

As someone who reads pretty well every poker book available

As someone who reads pretty well every poker book available, I can honestly say this is a must read. The cast list is first rate and the breadth of topics covered comprehensive. For sure, you may want to follow up some themes with more detailed study but as a point of departure for the full range of NLHE formats and skill sets (technical and mental) this is excellent.

This book is a fine collection of topics from top players across the poker circuit. It is a not a beginners book, and you must be a competent player to understand parts of the book. Several chapters were outstanding, a few not so much. Moneymaker and Miller's chapters are straightforward and I highlighted several sections to reread, as well as other sections in the poker strategy first part of the book. The 2nd part, the technical game was probably the best sections as Fitzgerald, Hellmuth,Boeree, Little, and Busquet hit a home run explain numerous hands and aspects of the game at the upper levels of tournaments. Tipton, goes into a optimal strategies and is very confusing overall. The mental game section as the last part of the book is a great overall talk on mental prep., getting rid tilt, and hypnotherapy. I only had a tilt issue early on, and this confirmed my approach to all tournaments as Little always says, If your ahead most of the time getting your money in good, you will eventually come out ahead in the war, maybe not in the immediate battle. I highly recommend this book, especially if you plan on moving up to bigger events, a great perspective from some of the pro's playing poker.

Unlike St. Augustine, Sade proposed a revolution in sexual morals to accompany the political revolution then taking place in France. Libido Dominandi – the term is taken from Book I of Augustine’s City of God – is the definitive history of that sexual revolution, from 1773 to the present.

Unlike the standard version of the sexual revolution, Libido Dominandi shows how sexual liberation was from its inception a form of control. Those who wished to liberate man from the moral order needed to impose social controls as soon as they succeeded because liberated libido led inevitably to anarchy. Aldous Huxley wrote in his preface to the 1946 edition of Brave New World that "as political and economic freedom diminishes, sexual freedom tends compensatingly to increase." This book is about the converse of that statement. It explains how the rhetoric of sexual freedom was used to engineer a system of covert political and social control. Over the course of the two-hundred-year span covered by this book, the development of technologies of communication, reproduction, and psychic control – including psychotherapy, behaviorism, advertising, sensitivity training, pornography, and plain old blackmail – allowed the Enlightenment and its heirs to turn Augustine’s insight on its head and create masters out of men’s vices. Libido Dominandi is the story of how that happened.

Casualties of the sexual revolution

The thesis of E. Michael Jones's "Libido Dominandi" is that, far from really liberating anyone, "sexual liberation" has served to deliver powerful means of social and political manipulation and control into the hands of our ruling élite. He marshals some impressive evidence. Here we read about Edward Bernays, Sigmund Freud's nephew and the founding father of the public relations industry, who was among the first to realize how sexual imagery could be employed in advertising. Long before the infamous "Virginia Slims" ad campaign, Bernays used the suggestion that cigarette smoking was an act of feminist independence to sell Lucky Strikes to women. Here we see the origins of the Planned Parenthood organization in the hope that birth control and abortion would reduce the numbers of the poor (especially ethnic Catholics and blacks), and resolve the dilemma of the welfare state. Here we learn of the fraudulent methodology of sex researcher Alfred Kinsey, the sordid character of much of his "research," and the way in which Kinsey manipulated his academic superiors and his chief sources of funding through an implicit threat of blackmail, because these people had been foolish enough to give him their "sexual histories." The rôle of the Rockefeller Foundation in both the Planned Parenthood and Kinsey enterprises was motivated by the obsaession of John D. Rockefeller III with eugenics, the pseudo-science of "race improvement." We learn also of the profound antipathy of the eugenicists and sex researchers towards Roman Catholicism, which they viewed as their principal adversary. Jones exposes the origins of "Americans United for the Separation of Church and State" in the anti-Catholic bigotry of Paul Blanshard. The organizations described here present a façade of respectability to the public that would not be so easy for them to maintain if their backgrounds were better publicized.
Jones's case would be more persuasive had this book come under a firmer editorial hand. It is lengthy, but also repetitive. Some material is duplicated almost verbatim in several parts of the book; also, Jones repeats, again almost verbatim, material from his other books, "Dionysos Rising," "Decadent Moderns," and "Monsters from the Id." This book might have been cut to half its length with as good or better effect than it now has. The work also fails in its efforts to tie the all-too-genuine mischief wrought by the sexual revolution together as the result of some sort of "Illuminist" conspiracy. Jones is a Roman Catholic polemicist of the old-fashioned type, for whom no Roman prelate (at least before Vatican II) ever did wrong, and no Protestant ever did right. He writes with the vehemence of a pamphleteer in the time of the sixteenth-century French wars of religion, and would probably have been perfectly happy under the patronage of the third duke of Guise. While many conservative Catholics, his intended audience, will be undisturbed by this tone, it is likely to put off many others who might otherwise be interested in Jones's factual reportage and sympathetic to his conclusions. This is unfortunate, since both deserve to be more widely known.
