Q: What made you write this book?

A: It’s an adaptation of a feature film script which I wrote some years ago. I love the characters and it was a tremendous joy to delve more deeply into their psyches while doing the adaption from screenplay to novel.

Q: Your books explore dark themes: incest, attempted rape, murder, sociopaths/psychopaths, and so on. Why?

A: Life is made up of all kinds of experiences, light and dark, and many people will face evil, to some degree in their life. We are each the main character in our own life fairy/horror tale. I also explore these themes because of a personal interest in women who transcend the horrific which is part of reality.

Q: Is your work meant to inspire?

A: My stories are meant to be entertaining thought-provoking and it's wonderful if readers find them uplifting or inspiring. Humans undergo painful and terrible things. What does not kill us, has the potential to make us stronger.

Whch Twin Has the Mental Illness?

A study in twin relationships, complicated by a childhood marred by 'daddy sex' leads to a complex and interesting story, deftly handled by author H. Raven Rose. Few writers could have done as well. We learn that Rose has adapted this story from an earlier screenplay. Not my favorite genre, and by nature, a bit prissy, I admit that the drunken cusswords early in the book irked me; but I stuck with it and soon became interested. The scenes that take place in the mental institution are frightening, or "dark" as some other reviewers have characterized them. I have no idea how accurate they are. The author seems to suggest that a certain "new age" clinic is more successful in healing the mind than efforts by the conventional mental health professionals.

A gripping yarn

Double Happiness is one of those books where the concept immediately grabs you. This is a well written and well thought work of prose that keeps the reader guessing, and can easily be finished in one sitting due to its engrossing nature. I loved the depth of the characters in the book, this author has a singular talent for drawing the reader into the emotive thought processes of her subjects, which in the case of this book provides a remarkable insight into the complex relationship and characters of the twins. The book also provides a sense of intrigue which is well managed and at time teases the reader into wanting more. I recommend this book, it is a thoroughly good read, and anyone that enjoys a gripping yarn will enjoy this.

Dark and engrossing. An exciting read.

I started and finished this book in a day. It grabbed me from the very beginning and kept me guessing until the last page. The plot is unusual, ambitious and very dark at times, but the author has approached it all so tactfully, the book is never too heavy to enjoy. The relationship between the identical twin sisters is explored in details and described very well. You really get the sense of dependency you so often hear twins talk about. They love each other but they also hate each other and they need to be their own selves. H. Raven Rose has her own audacious and passionate style and I am looking forward to the next installment of this fast-paced story. Highly recommended!

This was my favorite book as a kid

This was my favorite book as a kid. My son and I both love the track she set up for her "pet" in the basement to train it. Also, she doesn't end up getting a dog which is great for parents that have kids that want a dog but are not able to or are not quite there yet.

We haven't read it to her yet because it's more of an advanced book. The pages are beautifully illustrated. I wanted this to be one of the first books my daughter reads because it teaches kids that if you want something you have to work for it.
