excellent

Excellent as for all Adizes work.
Adizes has a materialistic approach, dialectic. It's for sure a product of his socialist upbringing. His theories are very original, simple and practical.
I think his theories are excellent in the macro analysis but not in the field, in the applied management. In the small scope or applied management, I find them to be not so succesfull or easy to implement.
For example, PAEI code applied to people. The theory is excellent to understand, to predict, in the macro analysis, but not to manage, in the applied scope, for example, project management. It's not advisable at all to catalog people in any way and to administrate and lead them based in that. You should know your people and communicate effectively, but you must not catalog not even think about a sort of 'who's-who-type or code'.
Maybe I just need to read some more of him. This subject is for sure treated by others previously. I never find a good explanation to this problem in his theories.

Quite strucrured classification of the managers styles that matches to all Adizes's theory. There are not the only descriptions either there are plenty approaches and materials for analysis. But the only negative sensation left after you had read the book. It seems the four types are too few for being asured in precise and accurate evaluation of an every situation.
