About the Author
Barbara H. Rosenwein is Professor in the Department of History at Loyola University Chicago. She is the author of several books, including Emotional Communities in the Early Middle Ages (2006), Negotiating Space: Power, Restraint, and Privileges of Immunity in Early Medieval Europe (1999), and Reading the Middle Ages: Sources from Europe, Byzantium, and the Islamic World (second edition, 2014).

I love this book. It is very useful in that prior to each primary document, the reader is given a brief background. In some cases the book also gives short interpretations. It is very useful and goes along great with Rosenwein's other book entitled A Short History Of The Middle Ages.

The material in this boo in great, it was just a little disappointing in the amount of writing and highlighting where in in. Other than that, it's a great book and filled with a lot of interesting material.
